Discs/Pads for TOYOTA calipers: inc WMS 110% heavy duty
Keri-WMS replied to Keri-WMS's topic in WMS Brakes
I'm going to close the 110% group buy at the end of the month if that's ok with everyone, at that point I'll start collecting funds and processing the orders. That leaves a bit of time for people I've messaged to join in if they want. The Celica / Levin discs project is next (that and restocking the 4 pot kit brackets!) -

I'll need to borrow one at some point soon - I can probably cope without the bolts at a push, annoying for you though! If we can't get any more I'll still go ahead soon... Yes, no problem! It would be about £28+vat We can't get DS2500 for the rear I don't think, and we also don't currently have a source of rear discs - I'll have to look into that! -

I'll email a few people that have asked about these in the past to see if we can get more takers... -

There are no small retaining screws on any Toyota discs I've seen. What there ARE are two (or three if 5-stud) small threaded holes in the disc - M6 I think, these are there so you can use M6 bolts to "jack" the disc off the hub without hitting it! (although you might need to do both). -

Yup, I checked and they are current. Ferodo are putting prices up in Jan by about 4% though as far as I know... £20.00+vat to the Republic of Ireland, £16.00+vat to Northern Ireland. I'll add this to the first post. :-) -
Was it a tight fit in the carier and caliper (between new pads specifically) at 24mm thick, do you remember?
-
That would be really handy!

Right, regarding all Celica and Levin calipers, I can't release any discs without getting hold of the calipers first to be 101% sure it's as good as I can make it, am happy to cover 2-way postage and give any willing lenders a discount though..... I'll start the 254mm 55mm bore WMS-110% group buy off, not sure how long to run it for though! I'm thinking 7.5% for 3+ buyers, 10% for 6+ buyers and 12.5% for 12+ buyers to get the ball rolling, UK zone 1 postage is £10.00+vat. Add DS2500 pads if you want them ( P ), and grooves ( G ) if you want them, don't mind that being a mix and match. -
To double check measurements before finalising our discs to suit these calipers on Starlets (and to do photos) I need to borrow or hire: - ST185 single pot caliper with pads to suit 277mm disc - ST165/ST185 twin pot calipers with pads to sut the 255/258/260mm discs (the type people are fitting to Starlets) - Leving twin pot calipers with pads to sut the 255/258/260mm discs (the type people are fitting to Starlets) There is too much conflicting information in terms of what people have said and even between disc manufacturers so the only way I can be sure I've got the end product as go

So the original ST16/85 twin pot discs.....everywhere I look the "ABS" discs are listed as 255x25mm, and the "non ABS" discs are 258x22. Which are the twin-pot ones, I had assumed they would be the thicker ones but maybe not!!?

Just looking at this again - the lower photo is before machining 1.5mm off the inside of the astra disc bell, and the top photo is after?

I've added a "Toyota caliper" page in the WMS section which has DS2500 and WMS 110% info, more to come!

It's about time we got prices for entry level brakes up here. In particular we are pleased to launch the WMS 110% discs, these are thicker castings for increased stiffness (= reduced warping) and increased thermal mass (= lower temperatures). They are ideal for trackday and high power cars when you can't stretch to a WMS 4-pot kit! NOTE: Being a performance / closer tolerance part you need to make very minor tweeks: Fit the caliper shims we supply (only just over 1mm) and thoroughly de-rust and maybe blueprint your caliper carriers inc under the clips, making sure nothing other than pads t

If people can't stretch to a WMS kit we've had really good feedback on DS2500 pads and WMS "110%" discs which use a thicker casting to increase thermal mass while retaining the original Glanza etc caliper.

Nope! Well, anything's possible, but this wouldn't be a worthwhile thing to try to do as you'll lose your handbrake.

I'll drop you a quick PM! :-)

These are the 15" MR2 ones: http://www.ukstarletowners.com/topic/21667-mr2-roadster-wheels-on-starlet/

Some more wheels from my notes (this is for the 275x22 kit): - Fits in ET32 15” Advan TC's with no spacers - about 2mm of clearance inside Rays “TE37”'s, 15x6.5 - Needs an 5mm spacer minimum in 15” Rota Auto X - Probably fits in Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2's - FITS in 15x7 Rota Slipstream ET40 - Fits in 15” Speedlines easily!
-
...could you take a photo showing where they are touching / getting too close?
-
To be fair most Starlet / 15" customer seem to manage ok - you can always sent the template to people selling wheels so they can check before you buy. Mk3 MR2 15" wheels go over them too and are cheap and light, forgot that one (not sure of the offset etc). And so do the MX5-spec 15" Enkeis in my avatar (and check offset). 15" Starlet SR Speedlines fit too - are they getting expensive?

For what it's worth our T20 caliper was designed around motorsport industry standard parts to help customer confidence - so you can use the same piston seals, bleed nipples (and maybe pistons, never looked into that) split pins and pads as Wilwood (for instance) and several other mfrs use - and it's very unlikely we'll all vanish at once! For people asking about prices, it's all in the WMS section - the link is in the possibly over-subtle sig below my posts! The area people most often forget about where motorsport-bred brakes also help over OEM stuff (inc OEM 4 pots) is weight - less

Sorry Rich, I've got you on a list of people to get back to - things got a bit manic over the last few weeks but should be back to normal after the weekend!
