  1. yeah it was the right hander before quarry, think its called either folly or camp corner bloody flew off the track like no ones business lol!! my mate who was in the passenger seat shit him self ha ha!!
  2. Bugger only 2 years late replying, yes no brakes, cant believe its gone that quick Brake line on wrong side of suspension and rubbed through the tyre, my fault rushing putting it together the night before, must have been half a sleep when i routed the pipe, lucky it didnt kill me we must have been braking from 100mph at the time down to about 70mph when it popped, some creative handbrake drifting and some serious brown pants time, hit the tyre wall at a 45 degree angle with no brakes doing about 45mph and then the car flew in the air and did a 180 spin in the air! causing below. The tyre wall ebsorbed hell of alot of the impact and it was a weird moment when i thought fuck this is going to hurt!, strangely though i repaired it and drove it home with some serious duct tape back to Swansea lol!!!
  3. I want to take out my gearbox while my engine is still in, i have removed it loads of times but always with the whole engine out, do i just undo the rear engine mount, the right side one and then unscrew the 10 or so bolts on the bell housing and it should slide off? Gearbox is on its last legs and I need to change it for when i start going on track, it tends to be quite difficult to take out of 1st and 2nd when you boot it for some reason and also all the gears are crunchy, i think the gearbox is the only original thing left of my old car lol and its finally about to give up!
  4. Car is going up to tuningdevelopments on the 17th Feb to get mapped onto emanage so if it hasnt blown up ill bring it down lol
  5. As the name suggests, I am going to have a punt that this is the same across all models as the master cylinder is the same. I need the rubber cover for where you put the fluid in, its the small one to the right of the larger brake reservoir, if you have one could you take a picture of it so i can see if its the same size. Cheers Craig
  6. tell me how much your paying for it and i wil let you know if its worth a punt , at the very minimum you could split it and sell for parts head £80 - £100 Block - £30 - £50 Crank - £80 - £100 Pistons - £300 Rods £250 So thats a minimum of £750 if its all ok in parts, maybe more. Pistons you can buy individually as well as rods if one is fooked, if the engine is shagged and he wont let you split it you have to assume somthing is wrong, i wouldnt pay any more than £300 for it but certainly worth a punt if you want to build your own on the cheap
  7. depends how cheap is cheap, no harm in splitting it and inspecting the parts if hes willing to do it.
  8. Congratulations dude!!
  9. I didn't want to take any chances ragging it on the rollers something going wrong and then being stuck with no car to get back, I was going to tow it up there and back. Thanks for the advice though
  10. I bet you can almost taste the boost!!
  11. so what about all these motorhomes i keep seeing towing smart cars behind them??
  12. yeah i would say so the NA's should do a million miles a gallon
  13. Hey Thought i would give you some help here as shown in the thread above, mine were wedged on with years of dirt, rust what ever else you can think of If i remember correctly you will have two collers, one on the top and one on the bottom, loosen both so that the main bottom part which normally bolts onto the car can be spun around. Get your self a good vice, grip in the suspension part and then wedge some wood in between the mouth of where you would put the bolts in as not to bend it when you whack fuck out of it. Get the blow torch out, put some really good heat into the collar for a few minutes, its aluminium so should expand nicely over the steel thread. Then get a hammer and give it a good old smack!! (anti clockwise of course!!) I did the above with a small vice to start with and i couldnt hit it hard enough without it rotating slightly as it didnt get a good grip, hence use a big vice, once i did that it cracked open hope it works for you.
  14. cool, gonna get one then, will come in handy to tow to the track days too
  15. I am planning to tow my ep70 Boxy starlet to tuning developments using an A-Frame, something like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-CAR-RECOVERY-A-FRAME-TOWING-DOLLY-2-5TON-/251218012686?pt=UK_Recovery_Tools&hash=item3a7dc2aa0e has anyone towed with an A-frame before and more to the point can i do it on the motorway. I understand there are only to be used for recovery of vehicles, which in this case i am doing, its being recovered to and from a garage. (ill just say its broken down) Will i have any problems towing a starlet like this or should it be fine, car only weighs like 700kg so i cant see it being a problem. Oh and the car i am towing it with isn't particularly big either, its a smart for four, weighs about 1300kg if i remember right and can tow 800kgs. I wanted to tow the starlet boxy to tuning developments as its miles away and i dont want to take any chances with engine problems on the rollers getting it mapped! last thing i need is getting stuck 240miles away from home lol
