Thought it was mate. What tuner did you go to Mark?
-
Its the same as any other PFC software. Is it the one with the MAF sensor?
-
Can't go wrong can ya! That's why I asked you the other day mate if you had these so called "WRC bearings" on your core, been told this has some sort of uprated race bearings but will find out when it goes to Owens Cheers mate, hopefully have plenty of updates soon once I get my exams over and done with in a little over a weeks time! Ta buddy, you know it's not what I originally had planned but I got it for such a steal, and the fact I haven't been able to sell my mani + downpipe setup I thought I might as well use it. Then this little puppy popped up and I just had to have it
-
Yeah I remember it being around that sorta area, I think they sold the car and some other chap on here brought it, but the username has lost me lol. Am sure the ct12/ct9 hybrids just robbed the ct12 compressor wheel, so essentially its still a ct9 footprint turbo.
-
Nah lads its a custom GT28 built by Forced performance with their HTA billet wheel Should spool as fast as a td04 and flow near enough as much as a gt30, 47lb/min. Should be good for about 420-440bhp. Got it at a bargain price its usually around £1600 a little more depending on what you have done. Sending it to Owens just to make sure its all ok as I got it so cheap I want it to be perfect lol. Gonna grab a tial v-band housing to suit my mani setup I already got and grab a wastegate whilst I'm there.
-
I thought all the tongs units were based on the ct9 as I thought the ct12 was able to make like 250bhp?
-
The only reading thats really important is at wide open throttle. If your not able to hold boost till the redline then possibly your actuator is weak, if thats the setup your running.
-
lol nah man ment the turbo is smaller
-
Shit sounds bad man, hope everything goes in your favour though dude, not your fault so don't let it get you down.
-
Too small buddy

The turbo anoraks of you will know what this turbo is straight away http://s164.photobucket.com/user/BoobZ18/media/Toyota%20Starlet%205E%20Build/20130503_193323_zps155e4328.jpg.html'> http://s164.photobucket.com/user/BoobZ18/media/Toyota%20Starlet%205E%20Build/20130503_193339_zps6e20591c.jpg.html'> http://s164.photobucket.com/user/BoobZ18/media/Toyota%20Starlet%205E%20Build/20130503_193402_zps3dea40d2.jpg.html'> I'll be dropping it off to Owen Developments on Tuesday for them to give it a check over, can never be too sure when buying second hand, even though I was tol

Stick a post up in the wanted section mate, someones going to have one laying around their not using

What did you actually ask for when the rebuild was carried out? A complete engine rebuild would include replacing everything that would wear in the engine.
-
We don't even get to learn anything about engine design until the 3rd year here at Brookes!
-
Not really, it depends on the boost pressure ran. A larger turbo is more efficient than a smaller one so will actually put less strain on the engine, providing its setup correctly that is.
-
Sounds cool, the college I went to had a dyno, was a shit one bare in mind lol. But no lecturer there had any experience in motorsport at all, they were all just normal mechanics that had came to teach, although some were interested in performance cars and racing. Everything I do at uni now is maths, theres very little that isn't. Next year I'll be designing a suspension setup, might see if I can do it on the starlet and see if I can get some idependent rear suspension push rod setup going on
-
That doesn't really make sense, its gonna be the same capacity lol. Think you mean keeping the turbo at its best efficiency while increasing boost. Which certainly as you are forged and the boost is increased you move further away from the best efficiency of the td04.
-
What sorta stuff do you guys do a college? When I did my BTEC it was basically just learning about like engines, ignition systems, diesels, welding etc. I never actually got into the depth of designing, which is what uni is all about. Uni is just full of the maths shit.
-
Not much of an update, but gave the car a good wash and its come out pretty well. Needs a lick of paint in a few places but not too worried about that at the moment. Concentrating on getting past my exams in the next 2 weeks, so after that I'll be really cracking on with the car and my mates offered to seam weld it On a good note my turbo is here It's not the turbo I wanted to run, but its still something a little bit special so I'll stick with it for now and see how it goes.

Get a sniff test and a compression test done mate.
-
Ay mate thats exactly it, save my petrol and just download the powerpoint presentations and read em at home!
-
I found college a walk in the park lol. This is on another level though!
-
You'll be glad you didn't pal lol. Most of the lecture's are just read off powerpoint presentations. Am really not feeling good about my exams this year.

Harmonically balanced and harmonic dampers are two different things. The pulley needs to have like a rubber band inside to soak up any vibrations from the power stroke, lightweight pulley's I'm led to believe do not have this, unless you wanna have a custom one made by ATI. Without having a Harmonic damper pulley especially on a turbo engine where harmonics are much greater of that than an N/A engine due to the increase in pressure will wear the thrust bearings in no time. I would stick to a Stock OEM harmonic pulley, get one second hand for a few quid mate. Have a read : http://www.a
