I had either an 18g or a 20g on my classic wrx about 4 year ago now and that was laggy on a 2L. On a 1.3 youd probably get pretty much fuck all till over 5k rpm. Td05 are old school journal bearing turbos, for quick spool you ideally want a BB. Saying that td05s are strong, can be pushed to 1.6bar plus and be reliable. Most VFs are BB and you arent ment to push them more than 1.4bar. Generally speaking. But then again ive seen scoobie lads at Crail wind the boost up on standard BB VFs to nearly 2bar for the odd run. Its just what youre willing to risk and what you want from the car

A 20g on a 1.3 will be laggy as it gets really. A 16g will crack 300bhp A VF24 is the best of both worlds, ie will do 300 and isnt much more laggy than a td04. Theres a vf22 on here for sale atm, thats about the biggest VF you can get, and its a ceramic BB

A box refurb will set you back about 500, depending on whats up with it. Common isues are input shaft bearing, worn out syncros, worn teeth mainly on 3rd and the old 5th gear popping out. First thing id do is get the thickest gear oil you can find.. or fill with ATF and see if that makes a difference. Symptoms arent exactly a release bearing type noise but thats defo worth a replacement whilst the box is out. Standard Toyota one, made by koyo or something, dont get a spurious one it'll just fail in a matter of miles.

The one which connects to the headlights, runs along the slam panel, including engine bay fusebox, runs into to NS of the bulkhead and has 3 large multiplugs, 1 is a blue square, 1 is a white square and the other is a white rectangle with 22 pins. Must be from a MK2 with square lamps. And not chopped to fuck. Can get pics if needed. The engine ancillary loom disconnects from this, i dont need that section. Cheers, Dan.

Does anyone on here run an OS clutch? Some price tag on them -
They are 1.5way, which is ideal for a FWD imo.

Maybe thats the reason theres very little new content these days

Bad feedback for Race-Tech has been hidden in the past aswell - 100% fact.

Yeah dude it goes into the vac port on the inlet, same place where your standard one goes

I dont see the 4e / 5e as that much of an issue, its a pretty capable engine overall. Once youve gone forged, standalone, big turbo etc. In standard form im not a fan tbh, ive killed a handfull over the years (my fault.. not the engines) Its the gearboxs that cant take the torque thats the real issue. And getting the power down. If youre gonna do an engine swap may aswell go balls out and make it 4WD at the same time. Otherwise you'll end up 10k down, have a front heavy starlet that handles worse than when you started, that still cant put its power down. But hey its got a better engine. I

Interested to see how this goes!

Standard radiator friendly.

Not sure if you kno but the YRV turbo engine is just a yaris 1.3 engine with a wee turbo strapped to it.
-
Think it uses the E153 MR2 gearbox. There was a thread on here about it, buried somewhere.

Glad it arrived in one piece dude

Rear rad setup will be pretty sweet to see! Its normally only drift builds where i've seen it done.

Gonna give it a few days first but yeah its looking that way.

Honest answer. I cant be bothered haha. Ive seen all sorts over the years. Seen 4age ones made to fit etc.

Melted pistons, banana'd rods, blocks with holes etc. Most starlet owners should have a few of them cutting about
