The Toffinator
Thanks dude:) And i would do if i wasnt on my arse with money. spent it all on this. But to be fair the manifold has been braced and rewelded from new and touch wood has never gone wrong! Imo they fail when they have a heavy turbo and a full exhaust strapped to it and people expect it to last. I hope lol.Proper manifold and external setup will come at some point though

The Toffinator
Nice work mate! I'm guessing you got the pulley machined then? Thanks chris, and yeh piece of piss cost me 15quid, they machined the bolts and 2mm outwardly on the pulley if you get me? good work mate post some vids wen its done. Cheers dude, Vids wont be long! Update anyway, Cars all done, Engine finished off timing wise etc and checked over, Got it in late last night and it fired up. Took some starting and was lumpy and Very loud when it went as the backbox was off. No leaks from the engine and the Athena gasket was bone dry (Still is), However there was a fair bit of white smoke but i thought it was just down to me running it for 10Minutes or so. Got down early this morning and finished off fitting the suspension and brakes, Bled the brakes and there was 3 or 4 leaks so i had to tighten down the ABS removal kit, had to tighten them like feckk! And bled the clutch etc, fired it up, checked levels etc and took it for a drive. Using light boost and 70% Of the rev range in its first 15Miles. Once again though the car was very white smokey off throttle So alarm bells started ringing, And it was stalling as you came out of gear and would struggle to start. The brakes also were spongy as hell and hitting the floor so i bled the full system and sorted it! But obviously i was panicking again here so Pulled it up at after 15miles and dropped the oil, checked the coolant... To find it was pretty much empty. This immediately made me think TB pipes so after a lot of fucking about behind the mani (Since i dropped all sensors etc down to this area) I sorted them Fired straight up, no condensation, no smoke, nothing in the oil or head so success, I hadnt fucked up somewhere on the build lol! Clutch was awful though and had zero travel, so dash panels came out and that got adjusted until i felt happy. New oil and filter in and went out and did 50Odd miles tonight, lot of boosting, lots of decelleration and hardly using the brakes. Zero problems as of yet apart from every so slightly loud lifters which may quieten down im not sure yet but been told not to worry... But wow what can i say, even on 0.9 Bar (Bit of a twat as its only jusssst hitting fuel cut FFS) It feels very very quick. Massive torque, on and off boost, can plant your foot in 2nd at 1500rpm and it just goes, even up mega banks. Can pull away in second like a diesel almost. Seems very strange! Feels like a fast car off boost and then when boost comes in, even feathering the throttle to keep boost down its amazing. Revs so fecking fast its mad, pulls mental hard already and i arent exactly caning the thing Cannot wait for 1.4Bar and a map... Cant begin to imagine how mad its going to be! Few photos anyway, cars absolutely minging and thick with dust, engine bay is covered as expected in oil etc. Notice the tucked injector loom and tidied wiring also. Soo glad its back on the Direzzas also! Engine in Engine pretty much finished All done! Cheeky photo off the clean arches and brakes/struts Dirty side shot Bit more running in to do then proper oil and trackdays! Map will be next year now hopefully have it done february as part of my bday present too me... Thanks for looking

The Toffinator
Love it mate good work Thanks dude! Nice work' looking so sweet John Thanks muchly john Great work toff looks sweet now it's back together. How did you tuck the injectors loom? Did it need lengthening? Thanks matey im happy its back was getting desperate for it back hahaha. And nope didnt need lenghtening, just a bit of a pain to plug the injectors in but well worth it Great work mate enjoy it Thanks and i will, its beaut! As said on facebook mate well done Have you done a compression test to see what compreession you more or less ended up with? Thanks mick, and i havent mate i was going to but it worked out about 8.8.1 Thereabouts. Night and day difference over a standard engine mick its unbelievable! Looking forward to seeing this next week! You need too see it jim its a bit mental really even at this boost level Got 2 Oil changes through it now, One at 15 or so miles and the other today at just under a 100Miles. Next one will be at 250 or so, then 500, 750 and mabye a thousand before fully sythetic. Been given it plenty of hard boost pulls through most of the rev range and lots of engine braking. Cycling the lot really and the engine seems A1 Zero smoke,Noise or anything and pulls extremely hard. Very very torquey can pull anywhere at 1500rpm and pull away with hardly any revs. Night and day difference beetween my low comp 4E! TT
maddox710
well done man, I bet it feels awesome knowing you've done it all yourself too
micky boy
Sounds good mate glad things are going well! Although Phil's 5e wasnt mapped etc i think that was prity torquey so id like to see what a 5e is like with High comp
The Toffinator
well done man, I bet it feels awesome knowing you've done it all yourself too Thanks again, and yeh its an awesome feeling knowing i have done it! Sounds good mate glad things are going well! Although Phil's 5e wasnt mapped etc i think that was prity torquey so id like to see what a 5e is like with High comp You need to have a go in it mick feels like another level. Effortless pace! Another mini update also, the 3SGE Pink Injectors (315cc) Were making the car lean out on boost and hard throttle, so they got swapped in favour of the 3SGE Greens i had which are 370cc. Glad i did as the AFRs Are awesome now and the car feels better for it, 14.8 Average off boost, builds up gradually on boost then full boost is low to mid 11s So ideal really! The Toffinator
Bit of an update Car has done about 550Miles, 6 Oil & Filter changes after a HARD Break in and touch wood seems amazing. Had a bit of a problem though as my actuator setup (See above) Was a nightmare and wouldnt let me run less than 1bar. So against my own will i bought a HKS FCD & RRPFR. Fitted it on tuesday and self set it up on the road best i could. Played with the timing, fuelling and the FCD settings. Got it to what felt perfect by feel, and took a trip down to EvoTune in Durham this afternoon.Whacked it on the dyno, did 3 runs and the average was 246Hp at the flywheel, 209Hp at the wheels. The tuner said i had set it up brilliantly, albeit very safe. There is a lot of timing pulled out of it and its running rich. He said i should see 270ish with a good map on that boost level, and at 1.5Bar should see 330-340Hp so thats one for next yearIt does seem quite laggy going by the graph, however on the road i see full boost by 4100rpm, and 0.5bar by 3500rpm so not too bad:)Heres a photo of the graphs anyway. Thanks for looking!TT Edited November 3, 2013 by The Toffinator
