  1. this the bubbles is what is happening on cylinders 1&2 cylinder wall threw a drop in coolant pressure in this area of the block because of pump design & position in relation to cylinder head coolant flow control channels. Thank you, I'll send this out first thing in the morning I'll check my email now. A 68deg low temp thermo is a great benefit to the n/a turboed but it's no good in winter for defrosting windows the paseo came with a 76deg thermo out of factory this is the thermo I run in winter. Loving the rear axle mods great work, the radius arm bushes are a fantastic m
  2. Yeh the rear of the thermostate is block side or high pressure side a minimum of 2bar pressure should be maintained block side at all times. the shear fact of the top radiator hose and pressure radiator cap are also on the block side is the first warning signs with the factory radiator cap set at ???psi. This is why at high rpm (track use) and high temps we see the rad caps covering the engines in coolant. Bad position. Infront of the thermostate is radiator side or low pressure side this then dictates the flow direction as well as using water pressure to cool the turbo (packing the
  3. I've got you a thermostat housing off a MK1 GT engine, if your still in need of 1. I've just picked up. Engines been stored in an old shed for 20year, forgive the cob webs other than this it's in great condition. I've picked up a tongs hybrid ct9 with the engine if it's any good to you.
  4. Seasonal changes my friend. What's your spec. If the the car has been mapped in winter you will normaly notice a biggish change in power levels. Also at these temps altitude is another factor. You should notice the car is using less fuel also. Be warned this time of year is a killer stay away from high speed runs the coolant system quickly becomes inefficient
  5. It really does make a huge difference (quality parts). These cars are not heavy anuff for abs or powersteering.
  6. Sard fuel reg also quality part. Tidy setup. Are you running abs??
  7. Yeh my pm is on and working I've messaged others on here. I've also tried to pm you as well and couldn't. I'll try again now. I'll get back to Fleetwood in about 3weeks time. I've got 2x 4efte engines sat there but I'm not sure if they have thermostates on them from memory. They are the preface lift glanza engines (96 to 98) so they will have the sensors you require. The 98 has a three wire coolant sensor found on the Yaris also this incorporates both gauge and engine control temp sensors. From what I've been told you can wire the single gauge wire/sensor to/threw the 98 3xwire sensor.
  8. Thankyou. I need the information off the ring ends. The 2x very end surfaces of the rings. I'm looking for wear/polishing mainly on cylinder 1 & 2. Also cylinder glaze condition. Many many thanks. Just pictures will do please. I'll not release the info gained publicly/on here (because of trouble coursers) but I'll share it with people that know what there doing and how to use the information objectively.
  9. How many miles on the engine since built or cylinders honed. So not rebuilt recently. If it comes apart can you get me pics of compression rings ring end edges please if possible. Numbered 1 to 4 cylinder.
  10. How many miles on the engine since built or cylinders honed.
  11. I might have 1 in blackpool. (I think I do have one or 2 spare).
  12. the starlet brake conpensater valve is located on the front bulk head, and is pressure related. So yeh the rear brakes see very little effort most of the time, leading to rear brake calipers seizing up and drake discs corroding. I'm running a 2x bias valve setup which keep the safty feature of the standard 1x master cylinder cross linked Toyota brake setup, and allow me to adjust front to rear bias. Once you get used to the setup the benefits are to be found everywhere. Mainly from what I read on these a little thing called lift off oversteer, and fast corner braking allowing the r
  13. Your getting there. Recently this site has alot of great builds happening. What colour are you going.
  14. This is a great start and big help thank you for this information.
  15. Lol yep sorry I'll clean it up as soon as they are bolted together. The lad ho has them didn't do the mod originally and is asking 2 other people about it SO I'm getting lots of different messages. I think now I've ordered wrong discs.
  16. Spot on lads. Do all the discs mentioned here require spacers or spigot rings. And do you have year of vehicles and models plz if possible. Thanks. I've also been told early MK1 avensice twin pots and single pots fit the corrola 1991 to 2000 brake carriers. On the mentioned discs.
  17. Another hard caliper to find it seems mate. I found 1x left front single pot I've ordered left and right front MR2 mk2 rev2 to rev5 calipers, corolla 1991 to 2000 brake pad carriers + mintex pads Corsa C gsi brake discs. The 2x center spigot rings will be ordered from custom spigot rings online as soon as I get measurements. This is the list the lad has sent me.
  18. Thanks skinny I'm looking now.
  19. If you look not to much into the distant past and all the way threw the history of this engines tunning life you can soon see number 1 and 2 cylinder piston failures where there is clear signs of piston seizure in the bore due to heat. Since I've been on here there has been 2 such engine failures, both on cylinder 1. Now next spark plug change read the plug and it's easy to see the cylinder temperature difference. Another problem that are now becoming apparent is bore glazing due to age the wear element is quite low from what I've seen. I was wounded when the rear gearbox mount si
  20. Waw that's light. Sounds like a great project.
  21. My old timing gun was playing up. This came to my Oxfordshire home whilst I was in Fleetwood with the starlet over the weekend. I got quite alot done. I'm hoping to have it back on the road and ready to Dyno on my next weekend off in a month or so.
  22. Cheers thanks for this information, and your help on this subject. Picture below is were the grind is needed (modification) on the MR2 caliper to clear the corrola pad carriers. You can see how minor a grind is required. These are 2002 corrola 1.8 t sport pad carriers picture below that look the closest to the top GT brake arrangment. Parts are ordered and I'll see how it all fits together soon.
