Oil colour should remain about the same on petrol car for the first 2-3k the it get slightly browner till 5-6k. After that it's get noticeably darker brown. That's from what I have seen on all the petrol cars I have owned. Widebands are great for checking fuelling but you have to know at what boost level the fueling ratio should be at

depends what you define as better, looks, performance, sound........ i would probably go for the first option with ram horn and side exit. performance good and sounds nice

Using a turbo that's been idle for a year
5T4R7ET N/A replied to jomista2k7's topic in Intake, Turbo & Exhaust
When you put the turbo on the car you will need to prime it. Take out the efi fuse and crank engine until you have oil coming out of the turbo oil retun pipe. Normally I would say 20-30 seconds of cranking is enough -
Welcome, Nice to see a starlet getting some proper tlc. Did you sort the petrol flap out?? Normally the tab on the flap gets bent so you just bend it back and it's like new again

Prob with evo seats is that they are only good if you never have people who want to sit in the back or a stripped car No qiuck release on them as they are made for 4 door cars

-

Nice progress, you will need a adjustable panhard rod if you want lower the car on those coilovers, Otherwise you will get the rear wheel rubbing on one side

That looks nice, the background looks photoshopped

It looks like the L shaped end will go into the slave cylinder, will have to check whether its the right thread size.

You will have to be patient and look everywhere ebay, forums, breakers the lot. Took me ages to find mine.

The widebands gauges do come with oxygen sensors and all you need for fitting. So they are more expensive then the usual oil, water temp gauges. I think prosport do a wideband so you could have a look at that. There are plenty out there, I am using AEM and its been pretty good so far.

Defragment your laptop and delete junk you don't need.

Wideband is good to see how the car is fueling, if you Learn a little about fuel ratios you will find its great info for tuned cars

Was looking for CCTV at the moment as well. Preferably I would go for reputable makes that are known to be good. Also something that you can add cameras to if needed Had a qiuck look and not too many well priced ones. Try and get a low mileage one, lots of little things go wrong with vag cars. I speak from experience.

What oil and filter do you recommend?
5T4R7ET N/A replied to jackkelly's topic in 4E-FTE Engine Discussions
oil fitler i would go for a enterprise mag II filter, basically a oil fitler with a magnet inside. if thats too expensive then next would genuine toyota one. -
Never skimp on oil feed or returns. I have two clips on the return, so I should not come off.

After lowering your car the rear axle will be out of line, causing scrub on one side. the adjustable panhard rod will put it straight. So yes you need one
-
Not good! did they let you drive away home yeh? To be honest the wishbones look but dangerous to me. Hope things work out for you anyway. Hope to see you in a turbo starlet soon.

Loads of smoke after boosting? Any ideas?
5T4R7ET N/A replied to Manny01's topic in 4E-FTE Engine Discussions
The pcv valve is overlooked many times, best thing is to get rid and have a catch can setup without it. -
Has anyone fitted a supra pump into a starlet?? some good advice on it?? Maybe even a tutorial.
