  1. i get what you mean 5e colin,,,,but from what i observed, the td04/5e combination is very nice for an everyday car...it has a lot of low/mid range...and tails off around 6000/6500rpm which is not so bad if you have stock rev limiter and when i say tails off...the boost drop from the higher setting to about 14/15psi i suppose due to the exhaust housing and turbine wheel but still decent turbo for a street 5e on a budget
  2. you have to remember the jam ecu may allow for a higher duty cycle vs stock ecu with the same oem injectors....hence more fuel
  3. i agree...but most would not want to go through the hassle of setting it up on a n/a car unless it came that way so the "corolla" mani as you guys call it, is probably the next best option for n/a....bolt on and roll
  4. http://www.toyotagtturbo.com/forums/showthread.php?20735-FMIC-comparisons-King-thread i'd suggest the greddy fmic if its an ep91...very minor trimming....as the core is not too thick or tall wepr smaller kit should also fit with no trimming or very minor---ep82
  5. i totally agree. for the turbo you mentioned the oem cams are more than enough

    Not boosting

i somehow doubt a slightly/hairline cracked exhaust manifold could lead to you not getting any boost...as the stock manifolds are usually cracked anyways and the cars still run boost no problems i'd look for leaks in the intercooler/couplings...actuator maybe slack....map sensor connections and the other code is for the vehicle speed sensor...is your speedo cable broken or connected properly or have you hit speed cut??
  7. my thoughts exactly sacha---you outlined them for me and to run 1bar+ on even a ct9 hybrid the person will have to look into some kind of tuning management the tf035/td04l kits seem to be available at better prices....PLUS if you get greedy in the future you have access to a wide range of turbos td04 hybrid, vf series, td05,and their hybrids additionally replacement turbos are available at relatively cheap prices and in abundance
  8. vf 30/28/34/35/etc should be similar to td05 or gt2860rs i'm a bit surprised these two (td05 and GTX2860rs) are so far apart...unless the gtx28rs is a significant improvement over the gt28rs???
  9. seen one or two welded with no problems at all...just need to be cleaned and welded properly ----manifold needs to be removed
  10. to me...the tf035 or td04l are the minimum upgrades....cost/benefit wise
  11. would be better suited to a 5e with some mild mods and good tune its in the td05 range in terms of power and response
  12. were those numbers from the same dyno?...same car?...same mods? lots of things can skew dyno results so its not always easy to compare
  13. i have rsr panhard rod and ultra racing rear arb.....both excellent quality and no problems for a few years now
  14. have you done a diagnostic?...checked map sensor and connections to it?
  15. from what i've seen on the forums...seem the k24 is in between the k1 and stock td04l so i'd say it must be close to a tf035 in terms of performance
  16. reason being is that it will choke a 5e....seriously but its a great turbo for a stock to mildly modified 4e @ socks....is it possible to put up a hybrid ct9?...or are they basically the same plot as the k1??
  17. a stock tdo4l on a 5e is a nice everyday car to drive...i kid you not...very usable power/torque band...the car is very responsive and will pull almost till stock redline....tends to tail off back to around 14/17psi at about 6500rpm i suppose due to the td04l back end i suppose....spool around 2000rpm and should be getting 14++psi at 3000rpm to be honest...it depends on the set up, tune and even dyno... generally i'd guess you may get between 225bhp-275bhp based on your local dynos.........where i come from i'd estimate 200-225bhp on the dyno (very low reading one) but dont stress to
  18. lots of thought, engineering, fabrication, time, money, etc has gone into this car.....i'm from the same island and watch it live on the rally stages however, i dont think this kind of build is for the average road/track/rally ep82/91 car....i'd imagine its quite costly and maybe not necessary for the average person though i agree its a dream build we would appreciate as our own still
  19. i'd suggest you don't run the any variant of ct9 on a 5e.......td04l at least
  20. bean, my advice is dont put a ct9 or ct9 hybrid on a 5e....not a good set up
  21. http://www.rhdjapan.com/cusco-copper-single-clutch-disc-ep82-ep91-4e-fte.html http://www.rhdjapan.com/cusco-reinforced-clutch-cover-toyota.html looking at those two items....as it seems TRD pressure plate and sports clutch are becoming hard to find now the cusco products above seem to be the equivalent of TRD... now does any one have any experience with the cusco pp and sports clutch???\ one other question---- does this cusco pressure plate need a special clutch release bearing or will the oem release bearing work??....looking at the pics it seems that a specific bear
  22. trd coilovers are very stiff...given their comparatively higher spring rates to other coilovers we tend to use on the starlets for everyday use
  23. may need to remove gearbox...maybe throw out bearing or something not sitting properly or even clutch/pp itself best to inspect it maybe let someone press the clutch while you take a look at the gearbox and fork to see if you hear/see anything wrong
