  1. If really looking to push the boundaries you will need to ditch the dizzy setup ideally, unfortunatly the PFC doesn'rt support 4 ignition driver outputs (not for the starlet AP engineering one anyway) I would be looking at something like Link, Haltech as the kinda mid range ecu's. Unless you really wanna be spending thousands on motec, pectel, syvecs etc but thats your choice. I would keep an eye out on ebay, you can pick up some motec's on there pretty cheap ;)
  2. There average imo. I think an EMU is better tbh. The PFC is very old now and hasn't kept up with the times.
  3. Depends on the boost pressure. Every man, dog cat, hamster knows the limits of these engines and what boost pressures can be run. You could slap a gt35 on a stock ecu, will still fuel fine below fuel cut.
  4. Whats your budget dude? What features are you looking to have? sequential ignition and injection? Anti-lag? Launch control? Knock control?
  5. Just use a 0.8 bar spring then mate, should be more than capable of holidng 1.4 bar.
  6. Not jumping the gun, but two different engines have now gone in the last month, both the same way. This is not damage that has been previously done, how could it have been? Stock ecu and stock map do not melt pistons, if that was the case every engine thats done 100+k miles would have melted by now.
  7. Best ecu that is available to public buy is probably syvecs or motec. But your talking well over £2000. I'm hoping to run a syvecs simply because its unrivaled in terms of performance and features. But you will be best of picking a tuner and seeing what they advise, at the end of the day they are gonna be the ones mapping it. If they don't like the software or aren't familier with it, you could end up with a shit map and £££ down the shitter.
  8. Another one bites the dust... Be interesting to see how they compare to Taggy's, have yours gone on the intake side as well?
  9. Whats the lowest you want to run? Should be ok with a 0.8 bar spring though
  10. Also don't expect a 0.4 bar spring to be able to hold 1.4 bar either. Personally just get a spring which suits your minimum boost pressure you want to run, then as said just use an EBC to raise it.
  11. Shit luck Hopefully won't be long till your back up and running again though.
  12. Very little gains to be had from acetone, virtually none at all really. Acetone is only used as a mixture of blended other fuels.
  13. x2, maybe store it for a little while if you can afford it. Driving the same car everyday takes the fun away and gets boring.
  14. This, I cleaned my car today, used SRP first then used the CG as a final wax, I would apply a sealant afterwords but haven't got any. This gave me a nice deep gloss shine to the paint and felt very smooth.
  15. Yes they are the same cylinder head.
  16. Just about to order my ticket, is it per person or per car? Doesn't state on their website.
  17. A comp or leak down test won't show where the problem lies, them tests are for showing where gas is escaping. You'll need to remove the manifold and look at the cylinder ports.
  18. Do you have a boost graph mate? Be interesting to see
  19. It doesn't state boost pressure, thats atmospheric pressure. Would imagine its around 1.4 bar though.
  20. The gear ratio's on the 85 are shorter though so won't be a fair comparison.

    loans

If you do go for a loan just pay it off as soon as you can, I dont see the point in dragging it out as you only pay more in the long fun.
  22. Why would you want to go leaner? You have to go richer because Toulene doesn't produce the same amount of heat energy as petrol. Its all in the ignition timing, you get no power increase by adjusting the AFR. It only allows you to run more ignition advance without knocking, plus Toulene is fairly unstable, I wouldn't risk it tbh.
  23. Not a fan of them myself, saying that I'm not a fan of the ASBO noise you get from a proper external gate either, I'm a right party pooper
  24. Pistons will make a difference mate. All the E series heads are the same afaik, its only the cams and springs which differ. If you run the dizzy it will be plug and play with the 4e ecu and 4e loom.
