Tegiwa Imports
Hi All, ROUGH PRICINGThese prices are all guidelines and should only be taken as suchWe would need 30 people interested in a single product before it could be put into production. Carbon rebuild kit£400-500 Bearing and seal kits.£175-250 Carbon synchro set£175-250 Gear hubs£50 Sleeves£125 each (1st/2nd, 3rd/4th, 5th/reverse) close ratio gears £275-400 each Close ratio gear kits£750-850 (3rd/4th/5th) Diff bearings £30-60 Final drives £750-850 I hope this helps. 00joeindastarb0
I think the syncros will be beneficial to everyone struggling with discontinued parts.
Phil
All sounds as you would expect but really depends what your getting for your money. What are the gears? What will they hold?No Dog engagement option?
Socks
Are the gears straight cut?
Tegiwa Imports
Gears will not be straight cut. These will take more power than many of the builds on this forum.
Socks
Ok so there copies of the stock gears but stronger basically?
jellybaby
WhAt would the carbon rebuild kit include ?
Calum122
I'd be interested in the Carbon Synchros. I know they do them for the EP3's. I wouldn't bother with the final drives and close ratio box, you can get these from RHD Japan, £650for a TRD final drive http://www.rhdjapan.com/search/engine/toyota_starlet_gt-ep82-kouki-5-94-12-95-eng-4e-fte/model/toyota_starlet/car/toyota/category/engine-and-drivetrain_final-gears-and-pinions Definitely worth having a USP like the carbon synchros. I'm sure they'd sell well at that price.
Socks
Its going to be carbon syncros and strengthened gear sets that we want. In terms of ratios tho. Id say the ratios are good. just make 5th a bit longer....
daniel_g
Id like a 5th gear with a long ratio. 4.5 - 5K RPM in 5th at motorway speeds in a 4paw is just a fuckin joke tbh.
jellybaby
I would have a carbon kit just long as it was the gears and syncros b good to get a set before I send mine off to be mapped etc
Socks
Id like a 5th gear with a long ratio. 4.5 - 5K RPM in 5th at motorway speeds in a 4paw is just a fuckin joke tbh. Yeh epx5's gear ratios are absolutely useless, unless your using it round a council estate or a go kart track lol.
crispyeel
Also interested in what is in the carbon rebuild kit? Would definately be interested in a set of synchros too!

lukEp
Your just trading revs for load though Colin. Dropping the rev (changing ratio to drop the revs) doesn't mean your going to save fuel. You'll just put more load on the engine. When I put a 6speed box on mine it made a huge difference to fuel economy as it took the load off the engine. Calum122
I haven't really driven my Starlet, but I know when I've gone up hills in my car it's like drop it down two pegs. If the fifth gear is really long and you hit a slight hill, wouldn't you constantly be dropping the gears up and down.
5e colin
its for cruising purposes no harm going back down to 4th if needed
Calum122
I though 70 at 3k was alright to be fair My mates Evo sits at 5k at 70, no joke.
5e colin
nope 3000rpm is 62 mph 3500 is 120kph 70mph on both my c52 and c56 non lsd boxes Edited March 4, 2017 by 5e colin
Phil
purely for sprint/track performance sake, (provided it would hold plenty of go) id be looking a much longer 1st gear, 2nd as is, closer 3/4/5th (based on current grievances with a c52) but this is never happening.
