Nanglebadgers work in progress

Recommended Posts

cheers gents, dunno how or where we're gonna fit it yet, that'll be an experiment with silicone i think!!!!

yeah, i do actually need a working boost controller, but not anytime soon i dont. and i aint changing the exhaust, damn thing cost me £260 for the custom centre, and it only saw the road for like a month!!!!!!!!!!!

I have one more part en route courtesy of Mr Socks and his Bid JDM prowess, and all i need for gauges is a matching oil pressure gauge and it's more or less small trinkets after that. someday in the far future i'd like a cage for it, however, I have had an offer accepted on a house this week and a mortgage agreed in principle, so from here on it's a case of using the existing parts to get her sorted. tbh she doesnt really NEED anything anyway, i have everything i need to make her do what i want.

so there will be less buying of gauges and braces, and more buying of lamps, and rugs, and curtains etc.

however, i did search for a house with a garage, which i have got, so she will have a nice warm and dry home in a garage rather than a shed!

Phil.

Update

There was a BadgerSports Inc man-banter meeting last nite for some perusal of Alan_E's new car...it is many lawls.

whilst here, Alan and Joel also had a nosey at Project Badgersports, the outcome of which was that the Blitz SUS air filter is now fitted and the battery is on charge. there are differing theories as to the cause of my oil leak, and so a couple of experiments shall be run over the course of the coming days to see if we can pinpoint the source.

sump painting today FTW.

Im not talking now here or Infact for a very long time as I know you've just bought a house etc

However do you plan one day (no matter how far in the future it will be) in bringing her over to the lovely rolling green fields of JAE? As its on my list now of things to see before I die haha

In short, no I don't plan on that Steve. Someday I might come over to JAE if I have a young kid who is into his cars, but we're talking 10 years away here. That is also if UKSC is still alive, but more likely if i am still a part of it enough in 10 years to warrant paying that kind of money. Would I like to road trip over with a young son or daughter?? damn right, weejohn is a massive inspiration when it comes to that. will it happen?? not if its a choice between that and a ski holiday, no. Probably wont be many of us still around by then anyway they way things are going. I'll need to join SXOC to see the old EP guys lol.

Update

I think Joel may already know the outcome of this update...seeing as his head was in my engine bay last nite along with alan's...but...

...she breathes again!

fired on her own, flooded like a bitch and threw fuel out the turbo to decat gasket. Joel cleaned the plugs, she fired again and idled happily for 10 minutes. leaked oil like a stuck pig mind-you. but, she's still alive.

so, on sunday BadgerSports Inc's Technical Development Department shall reconvene to fit a freshly painted new sump because the one thats on it can go f**k itself, and also to fit a new turbo to decat gasket as its blowing.

then it'll sit empty for a week while the sump seals without being irritated.

then the Technical Development Department shall descend upon her once again to fit the oil filter relocator and refill with oil...then see if the leak still exists.

so yeah, fun oily times ahead!

thanks dude.

yeah she'll get there.

there's nothing REALLY wrong with her other than the oil leak. there are a few niggles that we need to sort, like one of the seats is a bit loose as a nut has worked its way off and the radiator is too loose to pass MOT regulations now, and there are still a fair few parts to fit, like the pulleys, and i need new tires for the Volks, but once we have the oil leak sorted we'll be on the road to an MOT no problem.

it really is all about getting this damn leak stopped. if needs be when i move house, if we still cant get it stopped, i will buy an engine stand and it'll be removed and stripped down on the stand to reseal it ourselves.

but hopefully it wont come to that.

needs a new bonnet too lol.

Update

Yesterday saw a full 8 hour session on the EP, during which we learnt that GT sumps and oil pickups are different to Glanza ones. ah well, live and learn.

so, sump is freshly sealed for, i think, the 5th or 6th time. upper and lower plastic casings have been removed to allow for inspection of oil weep. Alan found that the oil pump was very loose on the side of the block, so its possible that has been the source of my leak.

light weight PAS pulley is fitted and Alan is away with the alternator to fit the lightweight pulley with the air gun. he is also away with the air intake pipe to plastic weld over the stock recirc valve hole. we also started to fit the GReddy oil filter relocator, however we are missing a few bungs / sensors, so that's going to need a little work.

sump will seal now for at least a week before oil is replaced and then we'll run without the engine casings on. if its all sorted the lightweight crank pulley will also be fitted during the rebuild process.

then we're gonna take a look at some gauge wiring all being well.

massive thanks to Alan and Joel for all their work yesterday, some definite progress has been made with trying to sort this oil leak.

Is it a cj performane alternator pulley? If so Which alternator are you running? As there are 2 different types with different diameter shafts. So if it doesn't fit that's why.

Nice to see some progress though as this deserves to be being driven.
