Cheers Gents...

Whats the plan with the fuel system, aftermarket with fuel return and fpr or going to run the non return system?

Going to be converted to run a return system :)

what sort of angle is on the manifold flanges?

Phil

The intake ports on a 2zz-ge are around 43deg. Exhaust ports are normal 90deg.

So my driveshafts are going to be:

MR2 Turbo Inner CV's

Race-Tech Custom Shafts

DSS Outer CV's, Hubs & ARP Wheel Studs!

The engine mounts are drying in paint, and the chassis leg and engine bay is nearly all welded up!

More on that later!

Cheers Chaps!

Right, well the mounting holes have been drilled & tapped in the gearbox. To allow a linkage setup to work with the standard Starlet Shifter Cables!

A lot of the unnecessary holes in the firewall were then plated up....

post-2707-0-05646300-1412962016_thumb.jp

Then filled and smoothed over....

Leaving a nice prepped engine bay ready for..... ;)

The mounts are now finished too. Using modified Corolla T-Sport Left & right mounts...

Starting like this:

Then a nice layer of black paint...

post-2707-0-89721800-1412962640_thumb.jp

Then the chassis legs were welded up & the fab work was finished off. Ready for paint now!...

You can see just how much of the chassis leg needed notching to clear the gearbox, to get the setup in a decent position! I can get full steering lock!...

More to come! Excited Muchs!

Progressing nice and quickly you not tempted to do something with the heater matrix to move those pipes down out the way? If u welded up the hoses on the sides of the bay aswell could have a very clean looking bay!

Are you seam welding the engine bay before painting?

I think its going to be strong enough, it is an idea though. It would add a lot of strength!

Id love too, but the issue is what.... lol

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Race-Tech have finished the tensioner setup now. Much smaller and much more compact. Allowing the engine to go much further back then it would have before!

Ongoing!

My origanal plan was to just get one of the small electric car heaters and mount it upto the outlet for the windscreen just so I could De mist that as it doesn't get driven in the cold.

Keeping the heater matrix system id look todo something along the lines of make custom pipes to go low down on the bulk haeas and out under the intake were they can't easily be seen. Probably would go for copper pipes from heater matrix to bulk head then custom silicone ones plummed into the water supply. Be fair bit of effort put into just make it look that tiny bit cleaner but it's the small details that Normaly set things apart!

Yeh Shaun, a lot of work for no reason other then a clean look. I'll do a tidy job with them, but I wont be modifying the core haha.

Lots been going on this week, havent had a chance to update this, so here we go...

The Rocker Cover got removed for a few things. A Pair of brand new Toyota Lift Bolts were fitted (known to snap and only cost a couple of quid), new rocker cover gasket. While the cover was off, I had alot of the unnecessary mounting lugs and brackets removed.

post-2707-0-48930000-1413390155_thumb.jp

Then two further uneeded ports were cut out and replaced with a large AN fitting ready for a decent breather system. However the crank breather system on this engine is much better then the 4E-FTE (which didn't have any crank breather at all), so no other Breather Fittings should be required!

The chassis legs are all cleaned up and painted now too. Protecting all the new bare metal... The engine was then fitted back in again for the last time!

Drivers Side Mount all finished and mounted up and the new tensioner all tensioned up...

post-2707-0-04019200-1413390283_thumb.jp

Then when the engine was back in the linkages could then be fitted. Not felt this box yet, but apparently the gears/setup feels good!

post-2707-0-67720500-1413390368_thumb.jp

So the bay is pretty much there now, the mounts are all done and the setup is now mounted finally. The engine bay is looking really good now its coming together. The high temperature protection is now also fitted to the firewall, to try and keep the heat contained, as sidewinder manifolds are large!
