i have a vague recollection of this, it was in a book, don't remember which one. The theory goes that its rarely an issue getting air into a turbocharged engine as the turbo is forcing it in. The trouble with a turbocharged lump is getting the gasses out of the cylinder after combustion, this is because of the resistance caused by having to spin the turbine of the turbocharger. In this book there was an ideal ratio between the inlet vs exhaust valve size. It would be good if someone could remember what book it was, its something I'm looking to try out in the near future.

I would be inclined to try out the bonnet spacers, that might solve the issue.

If you would order them from amayama.com they would be £160ish + shipping+ import duty, which would still be cheaper than the £370+vat you were quoted by the main stealers. Failing that you could always drill relief holes in those powerflex bushes, just to soften em up.

Remember about import duty you will probably have to pay. It will still work out cheaper. I payed £250 for a 5th gear from toyota gb.

If you enter a part number, and it then offers an alternative, it just means the part number has been superseded. With amayama, i found some parts were cheaper from their japan warehouse, and others were cheaper from their U.A.E warehouse. So i just grouped them into two orders based on price.

I got everything from amayama, it worked out at least 50% cheaper than toyota uk prices, even with the additional p&p and import duty. Im going back about 2 years now tho.

I recently imported a legacy gtb, just fill in what you can, dont worry about all the boxes, section 11 were it say type approval, just write "Exempt as the vehicle is over 10 years old" also make, model, etc, the obvious stuff that you know. You need to include the mot certificate, Insurance cover note on vin number.The de-reg document both original japanese copy, and an english translation. Also include proof of payment of vat and import duty. Remember to fill in the back of the form as well with all your contact details, and also include a copy of your identity, ie driving license. And lastly a cheque for £55 fee and also 6/12months of tax.
