  1. They give a very controller comfortable ride. They are a good road setup as they are on the softer side. Although I haven't tried maximum hard setting I have them with adjustable top mounts and polybushing with anti lift kit. The the state of the roads nowadays, for me its the perfect road setup
  2. If you look at the top mount from the bottom, two sides are straight. The shock should be the same, its a matter of lining them up and bolting down into place.
  3. For me the td04 wins because it makes good practical sense, tried and tested and lots of kits available. and if it blows up you can pick another one up really cheap and easy
  4. I was averaging 35-38 mpg on shorter runs and 42-45 on a longer Thats with td04 @ 7psi Front mount intercooler Standard ecu Decat
  5. I dont know how the standard brakes would cope with track days but for road use they should be ok. There are some interesting upgrades from other Toyota cars like the celica. Should be able to find more info on forum I would get ferodo fast road pads and standard pagid or apec discs
  6. If your using cans try to make sure they are not cold. I warm mine up using a heat gun. As above base coat and lacquer is the way to do it. Remember fine coats are better than one thick coat. Be patient and make its warm enough when you paint above 10c outside at least
  7. Its will look ok as long as you get a good quality carbon gloss wrap. On ebay there is 6d wrap which i ordered just to experiment with and im pretty impressed by the way it looks. But i dont know how easy it apply yet, will find out soon
  8. There are many variables, did it over heat? Over boost? Expansion bottle overflowing? How the gasket fail is important so you can judge if its worth fixing. previous maintenance is another important factor
  9. One bad experience doesn't mean you will experience the same problems. Just make sure your happy with the arrangements and dont be too surprised if anything goes wrong. These starlets are around 20 years old now. I dont know the details of the work being carried out, but do your research. Ask on here if you need advice, we are happy to help. If your getting the kit from Racetech then it should come with warranty. If i was you i would want to know the details of the work, What ecu will be used? How much boost will it be running? Internally gated or externally? What boost controller do
  10. Things like this gives me trust issues. I dont like taking my car anywhere unless i have to. I only have one local mechanic i can trust. Thats why I do as much as i can myself even though it takes me ages.lol.
  11. Try to pick up a second hand unit kit like wepr, racetech, zisco..... Make sure you get the right one for your setup, externally gated or not
  12. People who have sat in my car comment on how smooth it is and how it feels that im not going that fast. I have koni yellow adjustable shocks, apexi 35mm springs with tien adjustable top mounts. Its a very good road setup in mu opinion and others have backed that up after driving its I also have 15 inch alloys with 50 profile so that must help as well
  13. How did you check the spark? I would do a compression test.
  14. This happened to me a few times in summer, car felt very sluggish then i checked how hot the the intercoooler pipes were getting on the intake side. They were very hot, I couldn't touch them for too long Mine were close to the radiator and absorbed the temperature. i used a heat reflective lining which managed to cool the intake temp down and it didnt happen again. Heat management is very important on turbocharged cars. Ive become a bit obsessed with it now
  15. Or filling the mounts with some tiger seal
  16. Where do you think thr noise is coming from?
  17. a nice refresh will be nice, these engine are getting old now. while your at it get a race spec rocker cover with 2 breathers venting to a catch can.
  18. Dont grease the top nut, its what makes it cone loose. Had the same thing and I used thread lock on mine and its been fine since
  19. Its a bit busy but i should work well when driving Water temp on left Oil pressure in middle Oil temp on right Far right AFR with boost controller on top
  20. If you start with an ep85 or ep95 i cant imagine it being too difiicult. The four wheel drive platform makes it a lot easier
  21. The ignitor braket is earthed to the firewall. Make sure there is good contact
  22. If the engine want to cut out when you spray the cleaner on the intercooler pipes, you have a leak. Check the pipes the holes and redo all the clamps tight. Then re check with the cleaner, nothing should happen when cleaner is sprayed over the intercooler joints.
