morgey
Haha touchè.Decided being a tight ass was better after hitting my wishbones with a hammer a few times i figured since it hadn't put a hole or dent in them they were good to use So I've fitted the inner and outer steering arms and now cleaned and painted my wishbones! So new inner trackrodsCleaned the rack gaitors.New outer track rods.Even had a helping hand from stripesSo then came the mission of cleaning up the wishbones. Que a 4.5" grinder, a drill and a couple of wire wheels and wah-laOne cleaned vs one untouched.Finished de-rusting.I then knocked, poked and scraped at the inside a bit more to get as much loose stuff from the inside and sprayed a shed load of underseal inside them. then cracked out the hammerite and went to town on themEven test fitted the a polybush and seems like they'll fit with a bit more persuasion.Another job is to get some poly filled engine mounts, i emailed somewhere on getting custom poly mounts made as the ae92 mounts i have dont have listings anywhere, £130 for 2 mounts... erm naa ill do it myself lol. Hence the 80x400mm black mamba on the seat hahaIm hoping i can turn it on a lathe without too much trouble, its 55 shore so is fairly soft but compared ro the current rubber its going to be a vast improvement!Another job off the list was to groove my disc brakes to try reduce the squeal. Had a word with keri a while back about doing it so followed it to them specs, Luckily my bosses went out for an afternoon so i managed to hop on the mill and get them done I went with 6 grooves, 0.5mm deep with a 6mm radius running off the edge of the disc and alternating directions so each side match obviously. then a mate brought up J hooks or C hooks on discs so kinda wished id done them now but nevermind lolAnyway tomorrow's mission should i choose to accept, fit bushed to wishbones, fit wishbones and balljoints, fit discs and wheels then start looking at the handbrake cables! morgey
Well the car is back on its wheels. cleaned and greased all the old and new poly bushes. I've now whipped off the gearbox mount and pulled the old rubber out so now i can clean it up repaint it and make my poly mounts ill get some pics if they work out! Also my wheel spacers turned up finally. Staggered 25 and 30mm, bit wider for the rear to compensate for the GT rear axle. Will need some arch rolling but will make the car look much better as the wheels are a bit lost under the arches. They look so good, be a shame to ruin them by putting them on the car lol
Rich-k
So much love for this build mate

Flynn
Good work mate! Same spacing as mine, defo need a bit of work on the rear arches had to take mine off after Japfest, every decent bump scrubed pretty bad and filled the car with the smell of freshly chewed rubber lol
morgey
Thats what im expecting. I've got to do my daily as well so will make a weekend of it i guess lol

morgey
Ill try rob! Just a couple of pics of stuff that needs doing really.Firstly something finished Grooved discs fitted! Also highlights the fact i need the wheels refurbing!Another job to add to the list. Refurb wiper armsCam oil seal, the same one thats gone on the daily too :/ got my engine mount off the gearbox, highlights how bad the bay is looking so will be going to town on that with a wire wheel and giving it a good going over with some rust protection. Onto the 1st mount! Decided to jump in at the deep end and just hack out the old the set about cleaning it up, did this at work whilst i had a bit of free time luckily If in doubt burn it out! WalaBeen reading up on turning polyurethane and looks like it might be a bit of a challenge but i figured id jump in and force myself to learn how to do it. First attempt prior to any reading was a fail so I've stuffed a lump in the freezer to stiffen it up, made a new cutter and got a better idea on speeds and feeds for the 2nd attempt. So will update when i get a chance to try it!
morgey
Still no luck on the engine mount, got a few other things to try but might have to just send them off to be done :/Anyway got some reflet rear lights. Just a test fit atm. Going to get some silvertech bulbs and give them a good clean up not that they need much.OldNewAlso got a oil sandwich plate coming so i can fit my ormori gauges I've had sitting about years lol
Amjad
Looking good! Reflet lights suit it well! One thing I did to my '98 spec lights was to spray the housing inside with chrome paint, think it would suit these too
morgey
Hmm not even thought about doing that. I've got to get some paint so might get some of that at the same time. Did you do the whole lot or just the clear ones?

morgey
Looking at my last update i Really am taking my time with this 😂Oh well, sleepless night so may as well update it a bit. Gave up making my own mount inserts and sent them off to be done, so while they were being done it was time to paint the bay a bit, wasn't doing the whole lot just the main bits that looked a bit rough, still got the slam panel to do but its looking better already. Sanded it right back to get rid of as much surface rust as possible then zinc primered it to hopefully prevent it returning any time soon. Then gave it a few coats of normal primer then a few coats of gloss black. Stupidly i didnt take any pics of the other side so thats all really haha. Did get the mounts back in though.I think ill have to get some new zinc plated bolts or something just to freshen it up that bit more. Will be doing the slam panel soon and think i have a good idea on what im going to do with the strut brace too
morgey
Actually started this thing up for the 1st time in 6 months i should think. Primed it 1st then reconnected the king lead and it soon spluttered into life. Forgot how loud the throttles were

Sudden
Is that a pipercross px500 or px600 air filter? Curious about space.
morgey
Its an ITG filter and the diamentions of the baseplate are 375x150mm and the filter has a 120mm dome. You'll want some filter oil for when you clean it.
