Sounds good to me

It is the joy of modifying as grant and a few others have said. Due to the massive variation in parts for starlets I can understand why no direct instructions were supplied. As for hardware (vac pipes etc) there are plenty of company's around the uk that will be happy to help find the correct thread size and pitch of the fittings. To be honest if some one was developing an inlet, there are a lot of things that need to be taken into consideration. Fitment for one thing. The ancillaries (throttle cable, icv, coolant hose etc) probably wasn't fitted to the test engine while under development. I

Very familiar starlet being broken

What is that mess on the bonnet? -
Go to scrap yard and find a load of efe engines. Remove cams, remove shims and repeat on the next engine. ;-) thats what I had to do when I was rebuilding charls fte.

Was a decent turn out as usual at mfn. Shame about the fighting really. Always the pissed up chav scum. Good to see a few people out and about though :-)

Car getting NO power. Jump leads caught on fire! HELP NEEDED!
Flaminsam replied to jackkelly's topic in Electronics
Sounds like a dead short to me. Easy check is remove both terminals from the battery. Get a multimeter and set it to resistance. Put one probe on the positive and one on the negative. You should have little or no continuity. If you do have continuity start removing the terminals from the major power consumers first. Alternator, starter motor. -
Nope all they do is raise or lower the voltage at certain rpm points. Plus they need a 0-5v sensor reading from the tps as it has a high and a low ''map'' if you want to call it that. Our starlets do not use a 0-5v sensor for the tps unless you have a auto tps. Hence why the emb doesnt have the grey (i think) tps wire wired in.

Its the safc. Remove it and get some management on there. The safc is lying to the ecu telling it that more pressure than is actually in there. Hence adding more fuel but causing fuel cut.

Inlet valve clearance is 0.15-0.25mm Exhaust valve clearance is 0.31-0.41mm. You will need feeler gagues and a decent micrometer to set them right. If you need shims I have loads of them.

Can you put some pics up of the plugs you mean? The gt loom is easy to do. The only problem you may have is the wiring for the wipers is taped up within the engine loom. Its not massively complicated but it could be a pain in the arse also.

Damn drew why the sale buddy? I can vouch for the heated garage. This gt is possibly the most papmered in the uk. Worth every penny. This car shouldnt take long to sell. :-( -
Its quite a long winded process but when I remove my next engine il take step by step photos.

Rasslenny what is that mounted on the wing on the o/s? Is it a heat exchanger? Also goes to your oil cooler on the rocker cover?

New Wiki Article - Air Conditioning Removal!
Flaminsam replied to Socks's topic in News & General Announcements
As said above, R134a boils at -26.5 degrees. If in doubt get a professional to evacuate your system. Also if you are doing the "rag method" be careful as you will have only drained the high pressure vapour side. Gas will still be in the low pressure or suction side of the system. Also R134a is heavier than air, so if your working in a garage with a pit dont go down there. You can potentially drown in refrigerant. -
What Size are the tyres chris? Just so we are aware ;-)

I know this isnt really relevant but my old almera used to do this also. I found if I remove the lambda to make the ecu go closed loop it ran better. (closed loop is a specific set of values determined by throttle position, air flow and rpm. So the lambda is taken out of the equation and the ecu isnt influenced by it)

Happy birthday big man! Have a good day dude.
