  1. Starlet's been sat still since JapFest 2, first turn of the key and it fired into life. #Jap!

  2. 1989 Toyota Corina motors are a straight swap! Managed to grab one down the scrappy from a FRESH Corina rear passengers window. Crisp motors! Factory Fresh. Just needed the plugs chopped/ Have a look at Toyotas range from the 90's. Bet you can find a crispen!
  3. Ouch, I don't like to think of how "safe" our cars are. I know mine certainly isn't! Glad you guys are alright!
  4. I reckon it's a clever idea. I'm pretty sure most people remove the whole system.
  5. Haha, that cold feed intake to the cone filter. Yeah love it mate!
  6. ^^^THIS^^^ There is a lot to be said for big peak power engines, but an engine that pulls solid throughout the rev range is a lot more difficult to do. A lot more work involved.
  7. A Starlet that doesn't smoke? Never heard of such a thing! Welcome to USKO
  8. Yeah that's nice. Like that!
  9. That's cheap. My brother had one of these. Never smoked but used lots of oil. Vtec engines can be thirsty on oil it's just their nature. I have two mates with both cars over 150K and no smoke. My brother always had problems with his clutch, although his was ridiculously low and used to grind getting into gear sometimes. Was like that when he bought it, was like that when he sold it. These cars are utterly bomb proof. I refuse to see one of these broken. I don't know what it is but I simply don't believe you can break them and I know people who have tried. This is a great price to j
  10. Looks proper smart in that colour! Nice build!
  11. Looks mint, I must admit, I purchased my MK3 too quickly. Would love to have bought a Mk1 .There was one available when I was looking, just didn't do it. Kicking myself now!
  12. That's a much better idea than mine lol!
  13. Hence why I said Arduino. But for the price of an Arduino you could get a Pi. I will admit Luke has the better idea lol.
  14. Could use a Microboard Arduino, or Raspberry pi, connected to a software activated relay when tachometer induced wire reaches said RPM. By using flux you can detect RPM's through the Spark plug leads. The raspberry Pi can be used to activate the relay, the relay acts as your switch
  15. Ask your wife, she'll know she showed me last night!
  16. Yeah, but now Adam has published it, we all now know
  17. Nice one Dean for documenting your findings. People are so quick to not bother these days. Adam and Colin no doubt know a lot more than me, but from what I've read from tuning books, Springs are not necessarily for everyone. It sounds like you might be in the know more than I but for anyone in the future thinking of building a 250 Bhp spec Starlet I think it's worth noting that actually, Uprated valve springs can add additional wear to the other components inside the engine and unless you need to be raising the RPM limit, are unlikely to be of much benefit. Or at least that was my inte
  18. No mate, the Sub will only draw the power it needs. The sub will clip if it doesn't have enough power and will end up damaging the Sub. Always have head room when it comes to speakers. Remember that you're interested in the RMS value not necessarily the peak value!
