Clever use of that top mount I thought
-
Sparky has a UK spec I think? I needed a rad cheap and bought a JPerformance one. For what you pay you can't really fault them. Cheap, cheerful and looo good. They do the job well.

Ummm yeah, why didn't I think of that Colin, good shout. So obvious I just forgot!

In the quest to reduce the amount of gauges on display on the dash I've tried to recess some gauges into the dashboard. I don't smoke, and the cigarette lighter is being used to power my onboard computer/games console. So with that in mind here's a little mod I did in my GT. Powdercoated Power button for the PC PC screen sits where the headunit would be, I have posted this on the Forum but I haven't got it fitted in the car in these shots. Battery is dead anyway so wouldn't make any odds. View from cockpit

I bought a Hypersport short shifter, wouldn't want it much shorter than that, is LOVELY. Although it was then out done by the JDM-EP Gear knob extension so it's back to being long throw.

Oh dear, I haven't read your build thread for a while. I take it it was running sweet before it broke

4EFEJay's Supercharged GT86 Build. (Pic Heavy)
Calum122 replied to 4EFEJay's topic in Other Motors Progress Blogs
B E A utifil! I love the GT86 and I love everything you've done to yours. Am uber jealous you now have, imo, the GT86 that I believe toyota should have released from the factory. Looks great and has the power to match. Thanks for the write up! -
Toyota Carina use the same motors as well. Different plugs but nothing a little soldering can't fix. Also MR2. We went to a scrap yard. Found a four door 1980's CRISP toyota carina. And took the motors out the rear windows. Mate this car should not havbe been at a scrappy it was FRESH!

Have to look into this when I build my engine! Looks great! Just really brings the car up to a more modern standard. That top photo just looks the tits with the amount of work done to it!
-
Love these cars. Will make it my mission to own one one day! Looking great, fantastic choice of turbo!

Have heard it can work. But not advised on decent cars. Meant for an emergency situation.
-
Haha keep an eye out for it lol.

Worth every penny. Looks stunning! -
Nah I was just doing a headgasket change lol. I'm no mechanic so obviously missed a few things lmao. I will sort it out
-
Yeah I get what you are saying totally. Thank you for the explanation. Hopefully it's of as much use to me as it will be for someone else. I was never looking to be 'big in the game'. As much as I would love to do that I wouldn't want a passion to become a job. Cheers again!

Oh deary me! Don't tell me that are what those washers were for lmao! I did not refit those upon fitting the head! I was absolutely baffled as to what they were to be quite honest with you. Luckily I don't drive the car but duely noted! I am such a plonker lmao.

Any updates to this thread. Is very interesting.

A very well educated response. I like it. Yes unfortunately I did not study engine design at uni, computers unfortunately, but I understand the principles of what you're saying. I was going to argue so points but you a lot of what you say makes sense, and it's kinda obvious. For me it is usually the obvious things that I miss lol. I read on here that the Starlet valves were the achiles heal in terms of tuning becuase of said diluting. Although I didn't realise this was an EGR issue. Isn't that counter intuitive though as I thought an inefficient burn was worse for the environment than a clean burn. I.e. The addition of exhaust fumes to a fresh charge can prohibite the propagation of the combustion flame and cause an increase in nitrates found in the exhaust emissions, which was said to be worse than the carbon dioxide releases. Again I am only on my second book and no doubt am mistaken. You can lead a horse to water right? It's an interesting topic and my only question is. Graham and books tell you what to look out for. But how can I, the mere mortal possibly test for such tolerances and variances that they divulge. It makes for a nicr bed time.story but ultimately it comes back to something Colin said the other day. People like me will only be fitters. I am not a mechanic and.never claim to be. To be fair mechanics doesn't interest me too much but fitting shop bought components very much does. Ultimately it's going to be down to choosing and assembling the right parts. Then having it mapped accordingly. Surely that is as far as any 'tuning' i can hope to accomplish. Could be wrong though. The one thing Grahams book do say is how to avoid wasting money on unnecessary components for most modern cars on mild tunes.
