im just having a sit down read now with a brew. fantastic stuff.

lovely job. the gains here are some of the best. you can cleaerly see now as the valve head lifts off the seat it flows across 80 to 90% of the inlet valve circumference. there is only 1 place/person i know does this to these heads and now you. keep up the great work. this is very similar to the head im running with the exception that my valve guilds have not been ground back. have you port matched the inlet manifold to head?. you can use the gasket as a guild.

I've just finalized the purchase of a mint low milage paseo si. It took awhile to convince the guy to sell his pride and joy. The proud new owner. The plan is to fit my spare zisco original turbo kit externally gated with a tdo4l turbo have here, the 4efte power inlet manifold, high lift 5ehfe cams, fadaza alloy fly wheel 212mm 4efte clutch and my spare c60 none lsd gearbox. On a stand alone ECM, FMIC, 372cc injectors areomotive fuel reg, kemso fuel pump. See what she does at .7bar. my aim is around 160hp higher torque output. I pick it up when I'm back mid June. I'm wanting to use this for commuting around the British isles as well as everyday use. The shape and style suits me better than the starlet. As well as being a better shape & power for motorway (high speed) economy. I can save the ep 91 for summer and track day use. As well as hand back my company car. The spec of this as of the 1/12/2021 is as follows. Turbo/gen1 4efe power inlet manifold (increasing power over 4krpm by some margin) 4efte 50mm throttle body modified to house the 5efe TPS, ported/polished with the heater element removed lowering intake temps by as much as 30deg'C (increasing power again over 4krpm) corrola intake pipe, and itg £15 sock air filter. Light weight alloy 4+kg flywheel (helping the engine rev alot freely threw out the rpm) Low anertia exedy paddle clutch 212mm 4efte (again helping the engine rev as well as being ready for boost when it comes). 230cc 7afe denso injectors. ebay copy aroemotive adjustable fuel pressure reg set at 2.8bar regulated pressure. (Helping provide the near perfect fueling on the 5e factory management. with a perfect small increased fuel pressure of 3psi upon throttle open) passed the mot emissions with no problems, as well as a noticeable power increase using the 230cc units on the standard 190+cc injectors. ngk iridium heat range 5 spark plugs. (Helping the low kv factory coil provide accurate ignition timing along with the engine earthing kit fitted. (A sweet spot found with an increased base ignition timing set at 15deg btdc). kemso high delivery and flow eBay fuel pump (I'm very impressed with these pumps). And so far can't fault them. Provides much better fuel pressure. zisco rams horn exhaust manifold modified to fit the factory paseo exhaust system. (Again affecting the mid to top end power by a good margin, as well as giving the engine a very smooth throttle response). The exhaust system starts to whistle around 3krpm with the throttle just over 1/2 open and gets louder and louder with increased rpm/opening of the throttle, telling me it's hitting peak flow. gearbox swapped to the G6 corrola close ratio 6speed. After these mods the cars power originally 89hp has completely transformed feels like 120hp+ very rev happy. With mpg still around 40+mpg. Hunts speeds down upto 90mph very easily with 120mph achievable in a respectable time. (The engine torque output and low drag vehicle shape also a helping factor). brakes: reconditioned front calipers using yellow stuff pads. Brake fluid replaced with new rear wheel cylinders drums and shoes. suspension: new front bottom ball joints, new roll bar drop links with new front top mounts. things to come in the new year full custom 2inch exhaust system with high flow cat. full respray and under sealed with the rust removed and treated. tdo5 20g turbocharger. Before this is fitted I will get the car on the Dyno, with the hp figures representing what you would see with the same mods on the smaller cc 4e having a smaller stroke (rev box). the only difference will be seen as the 5e uses a higher lift inlet cam (same as the 4efte) and around 20 to 30% higher torque output (larger stroke engine).

great read, thanks for sharing the experience, looked great fun. remember to get some videos of the TSS for us all.

Agreed they look fantastic. Really going to make the bay look brand new at this rate. I can see I'm going to have to go on a cleaning spree on mine.

I've got 1 of these coming from a heavy goods vehicle breakers in the UK. Your design led me to it. The filters are changeable. https://www.google.com/search?q=volvo+d8+crank+case+filter&oq=volvo+d8+crank+case+filter&aq

Waw that's a messy shop. Power FC I had 1 of them on my Celica. Great bit of kit.

And the TRD glanza v surround. Ep91 ukdm starlet cd clocks Pink paseo needles. And mixed it up alittle. The orange ep91 needle is just there as reference. The white clocks have purple led back lighting and the black has white led back lighting. Nice and visible. This and the cup holders is the start of bringing the interior as upto date as possible. I'm going to get the seat belts done in red as well as replace the rear bench seat with something alittle more sporty. I'm also after an MR2 spider steering wheel For it. In the end I didn't need to rewire the ep91 cd dash, I just swapped all the required clocks and faces + needles around installing them onto the cd clock base. I've posted them back to the my UK home, were Daniel will install it. I'llget a video up of them dash + dash gauges + boost control + progressive shift lights in action.

Decided to go with the lighter easier to read and wire in paseo clocks, it also has the near correct red line for my engine setup, also the gearbox Speedo drive mates with these clocks. Just sat here working out the wiring. Think I have it sorted. Time to swap afew things around. I'm using the perfect paseo screen cover. I'll post on here the pin out conversion for Starlet spotife, cd to paseo, glanza clocks.

I've got afew go pros at home waiting for some videos to be made. Sounds real nice. Very smooth.

Thanks for the information there T-dog Nice mods. Keep it coming.

So many nice white ep91. Got me thinking about changing the colour of mine. Nice glanza fella.

I'm hearing you there, I also work away alot and it will be close to 7 month by the time I get back on with my build = brakes seized on, rusted new discs, covered in all sorts, flat new battery. Can't wait haha.

Just having a read now. Looks smart.

Nice, I think I'll be doing this to my catch can internals. Nice simple and affective. Loving the impreza model.
-
This gt wins my vote for best styling I've seen so far. Would be good to see if it's still about from what I've read on this it's a 6speed also.

You can port match the inlet manifold to the head ports. Use the gasket as a guild. Do not port match the exhaust side, these need to have a lip to reduce the affect of the back pressure waves. Also the paseo 1.5ltr Toyota e series engine runs a lower temp thermostate targeting engine power against in cab comfort/heat from memory I think it's 78deg. Use this it's a great mod for the 4efte lads. It's stamped on the thermostat. You can use the 68 deg aftermarket unit for more power but you will suffer to deforst the screen in winter. I've also been very surprised with these E3 spark plugs in mine I'm on the heat range 6. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Ignition-Wire-Set-E3-Racing-Spark-Plugs-For-95-98-Toyota-Paseo-Tercel-1-5L-/324210949520?redirect=mobile

Wax stat and idle control valve delete

Nice work. -
Your welcome. Here to help if I can. With what you have done and are doing I was thinking it would be best to tell you so you can extract the full potential. The valve head restrictions are the 2nd biggest problem area after the 1st which is the unfinished machine lip of the valve seat, on the port throat (inside the port directly behind the valve). It's real easy to check the valve to piston clearance. Use an old headgasket, head bolts, and some putty on the piston crown them measure the depth of the valve indentation after a few reverlutions of the engine. The lost compression ratio with the head/combustion chamber work is only slight. But the additional mixing/squish impact that a thinner head gasket brings is also mighty. The two go together like peas and carrots, bringing engine optimization and power.

Claymore's sleeper 4efe+t-t+t build (R.I.P. the Nanza)

Now your talking. Looking super sexy lad. Keep it coming -
I did find this while over in the states. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32661534632.html .3mm thickness. Whilst the original is dinner plate 1.2mm The thing to remember here is the valve to piston clearance. These gaskets quote 5efe, but if you run the higher lift 5ehfe cams I'd be tempted to check the clearance. From what I can see on you tube videos it will clear ok. Cylinder mixing on the e series engine is poor at best due to the very thick head gasket and combustion chamber shape/design. This gasket will help in afew different ways. Also use the factory head bracing. These always get left off.

Yep, exactly that, but be carefull on the exhaust bridge in-between the exhaust valves, there's a water jacket around 3-4mm down into the material (were the arrows are in the picture above) its thinnest point is smack bang in-between the exhaust valves so just round off the edges like in the picture above. The additional flow gains are mighty. Sorry about late reply. You can use a slightly thinner aftermarket head gasket to bring back any lost compression ratio. Only work the areas around the valves (all valves) the rest is much needed cylinder squish zones. the area/lip I originally highlighted can be completely removed. This is a unfinished cast lip left behind (a production line product). the thinner head gasket also improves cylinder squish/turbulence/mixing.

I witnessed a near standard glanza running .5psi under standard boost, hks actuator, a fuel pressure reg ported exhaust manifold and head, a blitz Access ecu, 2.5inch straight threw exhaust system/gutted factory cat hit 168hp. It even had the standard top mount intercooler. Mighty gains. Gives you an idea of the gains a ported head brings.
