Cammy R
Left school two years ago before i got kicked out! Had no clue of what i wanted to do and i still don't i soon ditched my part time job as a waiter to work in a call centre selling meat, was at that for a couple months before i ended up working in the parts department for a Volkswagen garage. Good fun working in a garage but i would rather be elsewhere!
OJB
I had no idea what I wanted to be, growing I did want be a firefighter as my old man was for 25 years, I had asthma and it stopped me. Then I was set on mechanic but my step dad was one (reason I got into cars) kind of out me off as he wasn't the most positive/happiest man in the world! I got into a college on a electricians apprenticeship when I left school but this was 10 years ago, recession didn't help and couldn't get a placement! I bummed around in a few jobs, working with my dad on properties and office stuff until I managed to get a job on the railway. I'm now working on an electrification project doing the foundations for structures. I operate a 3.5 tonne hydraulic hammer on a train so I drive it (only at 3mph haha!) and hammer the shit out of 10m steel piles. I enjoy my job, it took me a long time to find something I like so just keep at it! Being employed doing anything in my opinion is better than being unemployed keeps you hungry for something better and when you get there you appreciate it more. Westley
At school I wanted to be a mechanic, I did my work experience in a garage and it wasn't really what I expected. Then I got into using Photoshop and other software and wanted to do game design/art but I accidentally got into graphic design, did 2 years at college, a year in an apprenticeship, and I've just finally got back into graphic design as a full time job at 19 so happy days! Time to save money, sell the CORSA and finally get my dream starlet

BJShipley
Well when I was in school I always enjoyed video games. So I decided that's what I wanted to do. I went to college for 2 years studying video games development. 3d art, animation, concept all sorts from a-z I did enjoy it but then at the end knowing Id not be able to get a job unless I went for further education. I said no. I didn't want any more education as much as I enjoyed college I hated education and I wanted to start earning money get a car. So I did I ended up working in a factory making sofas for dfs minimum wage for 1 year. Then they decided they were going to start up a second shift so they asked me to do a favour and do the night shift for a few weeks.. (Yeah right) so I ended up doing that getting promoted onto a bench prepping (preparing) sofas which then when the pay came around I didn't want to leave. Even though I hate the job and my hands are literally fucked the money's good and that's the only thing that's keeping me there. I'd love to work with cars or with animals (no spiders) but going back in to educstion and getting a shitty paid job whilst studyings just a massive no no. So right now at 21 I don't know what I want to do yet. :/ getting more and more depressed and anxious due to the shift and job everyday. But at least I can say I work. Everything I own I bought myself my car, my tattoo just knowing I can go for a blast in the Glanza eases my mind sometimes Bret.

Moneys good and I'm good at it but fml it's dull.I'm either going to get my masters in this and bugger off to a higher paid job along the same lines or open uni myself into another field. JoJo_228
So interesting reading what you all do! I've applied for so many different jobs recently. From one thing to another.. I will probably never be 100% sure on what I actually want to do! But hey ho, it seems no one else is sure either

Bean
Theres some good story's on here a good read. It seems alot of people didnt know what they wanted to do and have ended up in something completely different. I ended up going to 6th form with no idea what i wanted to do. i had an interest in computers as i had been building them for years at this point, but then cars came along and i lost interest and got bored with computers. Applied for electrical apprenticeship, mechanical but somehow ended up with a process apprenticeship. I finished that and i was on shifts working in the paper industry on big equipment for 7-8 years. I would get fed up of it until i got my ten days off every cycle with a decent wage and plenty of time off to play with cars. After buying the house and stuff i started looking for something else.I ended up getting into a quality engineer role in the nuclear industry off shifts and more cash. win win. At first i was agency working as a ltd company which was a bit of a gamble but after 6 months i got converted to staff. Im currently studying a course work paid for through Darlington college which should be good for the cv.

FrozenJakalope
Hahaha, what are the odds of that? I'm almost took a transfer to Swansea to be a convenience lead in training, decided I didn't want to live in Wales though. I'm quite jealous of convenience tbh, we haven't got any in S12. NewbieLewby
Now at uni studying product design,Really quite intresting leaning about how products get into production.Designing cars is what I've wanted to do since I was a wee lad, so that's where ideally I'd like to end up. Also designing the uni's formula student car bodywork this year
aaddzz123
I wanted to be an engineer back in school. But I remember my school didn't really have any contacts for it or some bullshit. Either way I did media for 3 years instead as I'd been making small videos for years. I enjoyed all the work I did but it felt so restricted all the time. I knew it wasn't something I could do as a job under someone else with no creative freedom. I always wanted to do a production from start to finish. I'd consider an editing job, but I still believe its something to do better freelance, which is something I'd be able to do now if I decided to. During and after college I've had numerous jobs. Sandwich making, delivery driver, Internet sales manager, land rover mechanic, bed salesman, landscape gardener, manager at national tyres and currently running jdm-ep with socks. But I've always learned new skills which have brought work my way such as spray painting and video work.I'd still like to do video productions when I'm more established. Offer a start to finish video specialising with weddings and business promotion, and have a go at low budget feature films on the side.... Playing with cars will always be a passion though. Always has been, I just try to keep it more of a hobby so I always enjoy it
